This kitchen renovation involved not only an update to aesthetics and materials but also opening up the rear wall to allow more natural light into the room. An eye-level window at the sink expands the space visually while creating an anchor for custom floating shelves. By adding a few custom elements, like the shelves and corner cabinet, the IKEA cabinetry became a backdrop instead of a feature. A funky color palette reflects the clients’ style and adds personality to the space.
A Sapele mahogany portal, consisting of a much-needed coat closet, bench, shelves, and technology hub, creates a transition between the kitchen and adjacent living room.
